Is this incident authentic?
وعن عبد الله بن قلابة أنه خرج في طلب إبل له، فوقع عليها، فحمل ما قدر عليه مما ثم، وبلغ خبره معاوية فاستحضره، فقص عليه، فبعث إلى كعب فسأله، فقال هي إرم ذات العماد، وسيدخلها رجل من المسلمين في زمانك، أحمر أشقر قصير، على حاجبه خال، وعلى عقبه خال، يخرج في طلب إبل له، ثم التفت فأبصر ابن قلابة، وقال هذا والله ذلك الرجل
Answer
The narration in question is regarding a Bedouin, ‘Abdullah ibn Qilabah who stumbled upon the land upon which the nation of ‘Aad were destroyed. Certain Mufassirun have cited this narration under the commentary of Surah Al Fajr.

However, Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) has expressed reservation with regard to the authenticity. In fact Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) states ‘The signs of fabrication are evident.’

The incident is not suitable to quote.
