What would Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) open his fast with?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Please provide the reference for the following Hadith:

“Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would open his fast with fresh dates before performing Maghrib Salah. If fresh dates were not available, then Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would open his fast with dry dates. If dry dates were not found, then Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would open his fast with a few sips of water”

Imam Tirmidhi and Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 696 and Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 2348)

Imam Tirmidhi has declared the Hadith sound (hasan).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
