Ma’ruf Al Karkhi (rahimahullah) on the virtue of making du’a for the ummah

Can this narration be practiced upon?

من قال في كل يوم عشر مرات: اللهم أصلح أمة محمد , اللهم فرج عن أمة محمد اللهم ارحم أمة محمد كتب من الأبدال

“Whoever says, ‘O Allah! Rectify the ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), O Allah! Remove the difficulties of the ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), O Allah! Have mercy on the ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) ten times daily, will be recorded to be from the abdal

Answer

Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah) has recorded this as the statement of the famous Saint, Ma’ruf Al Karkhi (rahimahullah) and not as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

(Hilyatul Awliya, vol. 8 pg. 366)

The narration is suitable to quote as reported.
