Clarification on the pronunciation of a word of the istikharah du’a

In the istikharah du’a, is it ‘Faqdirhu li’ [with a kasrah on the dal] or is it ‘Faqdurhu li’ [with a dammah on the dal]?

Answer

Both ways are correct.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) quotes Abul Hasan Al Qabisi (rahimahullah) who says: “The people of our area read it with a kasrah on the dal and people of the East read with a dammah.

(Fathul Bari, Hadith: 6382)

Mulla ‘Ali Al Qari (rahimahullah) states, ‘With a dammah on the dal [faqdurhu] and also a kasrah [faqdirhu].

(Mirqatul Mafatih, Hadith: 1323)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
