The first food the people of Jannah will eat

Is there a narration that the first thing the people of Jannah will eat is the liver of a fish?

Answer

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Salam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) posed three questions to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) when he just arrived in Madinah Munawwarah.

One of the questions were, ‘What is the first food that the people of Jannah will eat?’. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, ‘The first food that the people of Jannah will eat will be the extra bit of the liver of a fish’.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3329 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 315)

‘Allamah Nawawi (rahimahullah) explains that the extra bit of the liver is the tastiest/most wholesome.

(Al Minhaj, Hadith: 6988)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
