Abstain from asking people, you will enter Jannah

Could you verify the authenticity of this Hadith?

Sayyiduna Thawban (radiyallahu ‘anhu)  said: “The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘Who will commit himself to holding fast onto one quality, I will guarantee him Jannah?’ Thawban (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says, ‘I said: ‘I will.’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘Do not ask people for anything.’”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud, Imam Ibn Majah and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumullah) have recorded this narration. ‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain authentic.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 1640 , Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1837, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 277, Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 581)

In Sunan Ibn Majah and Musnad Ahmad, the narration further mentions, ‘When Thawban (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would drop his whip while he was on his mount, he would not say to anyone: ‘Get that for me’ rather he would dismount and grab it himself.’

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
