Are the above acts correct as per shariat on Shab e Barath?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
In our city, on the day of shab e barath, people use to visit kabrastan since prophet muhammed sal. once visited karabastan on the 15th night of shaban(shab e barath) and the food is distrubted to poor. And the people use to pray full night since the rizak for the next year is written on that night and the next day few people observe fast. Please clarify whether above acts are correct as per shariat.

Answer

(Fatwa: 977/977=M/1429)

The abovementioned act is right in view of the Shariah, but it is wrong to consider feeding the poor in this very night only a matter of reward. It should be noted that these days when people go to graveyard, they make a noise on the way, talk loudly, make lightings in graveyards and make celebrations like urs and fair; therefore one must avoid all these things. Graves should be visited in an Islamic way with calmness and respect; otherwise one will waste the reward of his good deeds and will get sinful.
