Is the profit from my previous investments in non-Sharia compliant companies haram?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have gone through the previous fatwas of Dar-ul-Ifta about the investment in stock market. I have come to know now that I have to invest in which type of companies. But my question is related to my previous investments. I have already invested in some on the companies which are not fulfilling sharia complaince criteria. I obviously have to get rid of such companies and I have to sell the shares of such companies. But will the profit I will get will be haram? As i didnt knew before this criteria of sharia compliance. Some of the companies in which I have invested I am getting profit and in some loss at this time but profit is more than loss. Please advise about such profit. Regards, Rana Khawar

Answer

(Fatwa: 1322/1322=M/1430)

If the companies you invested in are not Shariah-compliant, you should get rid of the same. The percentage of profits gained from interest and non-Shariah ways should be given in charity to the poor. As far as income gained through lawful ways and your capital is lawful and halal for you.
