Q: I was 5 weeks pregnant and had a miscarriage. I did a DNC suction and have bled for a week now. The flow has decreased. Will this be regarded as my periods or can I make a fresh wudhu and start reading salaah and Quraan?
A: Bleeding after a miscarriage wherein no part of the foetus has formed will be regarded as Haidh if it lasts for three days or more. You have to know the amount of days your Haidh normally lasts for. For example it was six days for every period. Now if this bleeding (after miscarriage) stops before 10 days, whether 6,7,8.9 days, you will consider that as Haidh. But if you bleed for over ten days in this bleeding, then you will consider 6 days (per previous habit) as Haidh and from the seventh day as Istihaadhah. So Qadhaa will be made of Salaah from the seventh day onwards.
