Q1. Must we disclose zakat? Q2. Accepting dinner ok?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalam-O-Alaikum, Mufti saab, thank you very much for your guidenace and service. Q1. Do we have to inform the recipient of zakat that this money is “ZAKAT money” which is being given to him/her ? Q2. If we pay zakah to far relative’s and neighbors at the time of his/her daughters marriage and they invite us for dinner in marriage so is it corrects to have dinner for a person who has given the Zakat.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1668/355/TL=1430)

It is not necessary to tell the recipient of Zakah that he was given zakah money, rather it is sufficient to make intention of Zakah only. If one gives money as gift but with the intention of Zakah, it will suffice as Zakah.

(2) Yes, the person who gave Zakah can attend the feast; since by changing hands the ruling will change. You gave him as Zakah, the recipient became its owner, now it became a normal money not of Zakah. It is to be noted that the neighbours or relatives can be given Zakah money only when they do not owe wealth equal to nisab.
