Question:

Is it permissible for a Muslim to earn a living through dog breeding, hiring and selling?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Whether you can earn a living through dogs depends on the kind of dog.

“Selling a dog that is taught is permissible […] and selling a dog that is not taught is permissible if it is capable of being taught, otherwise it is not.” (Fataawa Hindiyyah, Vol 3, Pg 122)

“And it was narrated on the authority of Malik and with it that he said, Hanun, Abu Hanifa and his two companions, it is permissible to sell dogs that can be benefitted from, because it is an animal that then is benefitted from through guarding and hunting.” (Awjazul Masaalik, Vol 13, Pg 51)

Only Allah knows best.
