Question:
In a previous fatwa about trimming the hair due to split ends etc:
It is not permissible for a female to trim her hair under normal circumstances. However, Ulama have given permission for trimming split ends of the hair if the hair is not long enough and it has stopped growing due to the split ends. The trimming of the split ends would thus not be in order to stunt the growth of the hair but rather to stimulate and enhance its growth. If the hair is already long enough, then even this will not be permissible. (Re:- Fatawaa Rahimiyah vol.10 pg.322).
- Please elaborate what is meant by “the hair is already long enough”? If a woman’s hair is only *halfway down* her back or slightly less than that and has stopped growing for a few years due to split ends, is the length sufficient? The reason for this is because she hasn’t cut her hair at all and was under the impression that its completely impermissible to trim the hair because of split ends.
- Is it permissible to remove the hair between the eyebrows, even if the hair may be barely noticeable?
