Weddings

Question:

I’d like to enquire the ruling of a wedding in islam (feeding from the girls side)

Many a time the girls family says it’s not a wedding. We just feeding the guest who come from far e.g the boys side, but in that there’s many others that are also invited too.

Will this be counted as a normal wedding or?

Answer:

A wedding in Islam comprises of a Nikah contract and a Waleemah feast, that’s all. The Waleemah will be from the groom’s side and not from the bride’s side.

If the bride’s family invited some people to eat at their house because they are from far, regardless of whether the guest is from the boy’s side or not, there is no problem with that. To invite other people as a feast is something which is not Sunnah and even worse, a lot of money is wasted in this.
