From the du’a below I am enquiring about this part:
‘wa min tawariqil layli wan nahar, illa tariqan yatruqu bikhayr, ya Rahman’.
A’uzu biwaj hillahil karim, wa bi kalimatikat tammatil lati la yuja wizihunna barrun wala fajir, min sharri ma yanzilu minas sama’, wa min sharri ma ya’ruju fiha, wa sharri ma thara’a fil ardh, wa sharri ma yakhruju minha, wa min fitanil layli wan nahar, wa min tawariqil layli wan nahar, illa tariqan yatruqu bikhayr, ya rahman.
Translation – I seek refuge in the noble being of Allah and with the complete words of Allah, (the knowledge of) which no righteous person or transgressor can surpass, from the evil of what descends from the sky and the evil of what ascends in it, and the evil of what He has spread in the earth and what emerges from it, and from the trials of the night and the day, and from comers by night and day, except for the nocturnal visitor who brings good. O the Most Beneficent.

Muwatta Imam Malik, Hadith: 1712, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 24068 & 30238, Musnad Ahmad, vol.3 pg.419 and others.
The part you are querying should ideally be translated as follows:
…and [I ask refuge] from the occurrences of the night and day, besides the good that occurs, O the Most Merciful.
The meaning is now more clear and understandable.
