Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would not retaliate with evil

Is this a narration recorded in Sahih Bukhari?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness.”

Answer

This is recorded in Sahih Bukhari. However it is the description of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the Tawrah and not a statement of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

The part in question is as follows:

‘Ata ibn Yasar (rahimahullah) says I met ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibnul ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) and asked him to inform me of the description of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the Tawrah. He said, ‘Certainly, by Allah, Some of his descriptions in the Tawrah are [similar] to his descriptions/characteristics mentioned in the Quran:

“…[Nabi sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] does not repay evil with evil, but rather pardons and forgives…”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 2125 and 4838)
