Following the Way of Abraham (upon whom be peace)

Answered according to Shafi'i Fiqh by

Question: What do I have to do to follow Abraham’s milla (religion) (upon whom be peace)?

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important question.

Milla (religion) means the sum whole of the way we have been told to follow, as demonstrated by one of Allah’s prophets. (Mufradat Alfadh al Qur’an, Raghib al Asfahani)

To follow the milla of Abraham (upon whom be peace) means believing in Allah as one transcendent God, being Muslim, following the Sacred Law, and being sincere to Allah.

I pray this helps.
