If someone is depressed and desperate, is it permissible to say, “No one can help me“?

Yes, such a statement is permissible as it is an expression of what one feels. All things are in the hands of Allah, and sometimes, the end of a trial is not immediate. It is normal to feel like no one can remove the trial for one in such situations.
This is not a denial of Allah’s care and concern. Believers know that Allah looks after His servants – even when trials persist. In fact, people are usually at their most sincere in the middle of tests. They realize they are weak individuals, and from there, they learn to turn to Allah and hope in His favor.
