Can Muslims See Their Non-Mahram Relatives In Paradise?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question:

Assalamu ‘alaykum. Can the Muslims in Paradise see their non-mahram relatives, including cousins?

Answer:

Wa ‘alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.

I pray you are well.

Yes, I believe they will. There will be no temptation in Paradise with regards to the opposite gender. No one will look at another’s spouse with a lustful gaze. They will not even feel a need to because of their deep attachment to their own spouses. “In [those gardens] are [ladies] who’s gaze is restricted [to their spouses.]” [Qur’an, 55:56] This is one of the verses which affirms this. [Biqa’i, Nazm al Durar]

Therefore, in light of the other verses that state believers will be sat together and with their believing descendants, it would seem that they will be able to see their relatives, even those who are not mahrams to them. Allah knows best.

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
