Is paying extra for service/guarantee considered to be insurance

I bought a pair of glasses. I was given the option of paying an extra 20 pounds (only once at the time of purchase) for a two year service guarantee. If the glasses get bent up, they would fix them for free, or if they break, they’d replace them for free. I didn’t pay the 20 pounds because i wasn’t sure if it was insurance. Well, now, my glasses are bent up (only two weeks after purchasing them). Glasses are the type of thing that get bent often. if car breakdown service is not considered insurance, wouldn’t paying extra for a guarantee not be insurance? is it haram or halal for me to pay extra for a service/guarantee deal? would the answer be the same for appliances like refrigerators?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the name of Allah Most Merciful Most Compassionate
I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.

It is permitted to get extended warrantees and service contracts such as the one mentioned, and these aren’t considered the same as insurance.
