Can one read books written by non-Muslims on Islam e.g. Islamic history – quran translations etc

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

One should learn the fundamentals and essentials of one’s deen through reliable Sunni sources. After this, one will have the understanding and awareness to understanding and distinguish things.

Before this, one should avoid all non-Muslim and non-Sunni sources, lest one’s understanding be shaken. Weak fires are put out by the wind; strong fires simply strengthened.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
