Question:
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I want to know if the voice of a woman is also ‘Aurah because of the Hadith of Prophet (S.A.W.): “All of a woman is Aurah!”
(Tirmidhi)
Can u tell me the right Tafseer of this Hadith please? If her voice isn’t ‘Aurah, is it suitable for a woman after all that she talks in front of non-Mahram about Islam for example in a voice room in web, where she only can be heard but can’t be seen by the men?
Are there Daleel for or against it in the Qur’an or Sunnah?
Jazakallahu Khair wa Baarakallahu feek for your help!
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Answer:
The voice of a female is not Aurah. She can speak or teach a non-Mahram but care should be taken that she does not speak in alluring or soft tones to him. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’an: “O women of the Nabi! (S.A.W.) You are unlike the common women if you exercise self-abstinence. Therefore, do not be too complacent in speech, lest he in whose heart lurks a disease hold out hope. And (anyway) say a suitable word.” Aisha (R.A.) and other Sahaabiyyaat used to teach many Ahaadith to non-Mahram males.
And Allah Ta’ala knows best
