The du’a ‘Rabbi yassir wa la tu’assir’

Question:

Does the following du’a appear in any Hadith?

رَبِّ يَسِّر وَلَا تُعَسِّر

Rabbi yassir wa la tu’assir

Answer:

I have not come across these words in any Hadith.

Some Scholars and authors have commenced their writings with this du’a. Many ‘Ulama usually also recite this du’a when commencing teaching/studying a new book.

There is no harm in reciting this du’a on any occasion wherein a person could potentially face difficulty, as the meaning is excellent, without considering it a Sunnah du’a.

Translation

O Allah! Make it easy and do not make it difficult.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
