The du’a to recite when one gets married or purchases a slave or conveyance

Could you translate this du’a and provide the reference:

اللهم إني أسالُك خَيْرَها، وخَيْرَ ما جَبَلْتَها عليه، وأعوذُ بِكَ من شَرِّها، وشَرِّ ما جبلتَها عليه

Allahumma inni asaluka khayraha wa khayra ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi wa a’udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jablataha ‘alayhi

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud and Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahumallah) have recorded this du’a. The full narration is as follows:

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “When one of you marries a woman or purchases a slave, then he should say ‘Allahumma inni asaluka khayraha wa khayra ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi wa a’udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jablataha ‘alayhi‘ And when he purchases a camel he should take hold of the top of its hump and recite the same du’a.  [One version states, thereafter he should hold the forelocks of his wife/slave and make du’a for barakah]

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 2153 and Sunan ibn Majah, Hadith: 1918 and 2252)

Translation

O Allah! I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness that she is naturally inclined towards and I seek Your refuge from her evil and from the evil which she is naturally inclined to

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
