Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) seeking protection from hypocrisy

Is this narration authentic?

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr Ja’far ibn Muhammad  Al Firyabi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with a suitable chain.

(Sifatun Nifaq Wa Dhammul Munafiqin, pg. 67/68)

Translation

Jubayr ibn Nufayr (rahimahullah) heard Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) seeking Allah’s protection excessively from hypocrisy, after reciting tashahhud at the end of his Salah. Jubayr (rahimahullah) questioned him regarding this saying, ‘What is with you O Abud Darda? You and hypocrisy?’ [i.e. You can never become a hypocrite]. Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) replied, ‘Leave me, for by Allah, A man will [turn away/be unmindful] of his Din for a short period resulting in it being snatched away from him.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
