The reason for revelation of the Verse ‘Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Nabi’

Please share the Hadith which confirms the reason for the revelation of the Verse ‘You who have believed! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Nabi’

Answer

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded a Hadith which states that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) disagreed on a particular issue. When they raised their voices, this Verse was revealed.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 4845)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has quoted Ibn ‘Atiyyah (rahimahullah) who states, ‘The correct view is that this particular Verse was revealed regarding the Bedouins who would shout out to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).’

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) then reconciles by saying, the Verse before this was revealed regarding Sayyiduna ‘Umar and Sayyiduna ‘Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) and the Verse in question was revealed regarding the Bedouins.
