Proof for not raising the hands during the salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I would like to ask about the authenticity of the Hadith reported by Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) regarding performing raf’ul yadain only once in salah?

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) one day told his students:

‘Should I not show you how Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) would perform salah?’

He then prayed salah, in which he did not raise his hands in any posture other than at the beginning.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 748, Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 257,  Sunan Nasai, Hadith: 1058 and others)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared this Hadith as sound (hasan).

Ibn Hazm (rahimahullah) declared it authentic (sahih).

Shaykh Nimawi (rahimahullah) has also classified it as authentic (sahih).

(Refer: Shaykh ‘Awwamah’s footnotes on Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 2456 and Atharus Sunan, pg.133)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
