Allah Ta’ala will never cast his beloved into the fire

Is the following narration authentic and is there an incident behind this narration?

‘Allah Ta’ala will never cast his beloved into Jahannam’

Answer

The full narration is as follows:

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

“A child was once walking along a pathway when Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the Sahabah happened to pass. When the child’s mother saw this large group she feared that the child may get trampled. She rushed to pick him up saying ‘my son, my son’.[When the Sahabah saw this] they said, ‘O Rasulullah, this women will never throw her child in into the fire’ [due to her extreme love for her child]. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘No! And nor will Allah cast his beloved into the fire”

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 104 and pg. 235, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 58)

Imam Hakim has declared the Hadith authentic and Hafiz Dhahabi concurs.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
