Woman’s ownership on properties

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Woman’s ownership on properties

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

According to Islamic law, a woman’s right to her money, estate or other properties is fully acknowledged. This right undergoes no change whether she is single or married. She retains her full rights to buy, sell, mortgage or lease any or all her properties. (Hidayah p.352 v.3)

With regards to your question it is permissible for your daughter to give her wealth to you to look after. A woman who is sane and mature has full ownership of her property and she can delegate the responsibility of it to someone whether the father consents to it or not.

However, your daughter should remember that pleasing one’s father and mother is important. If the father is going to be upset then your daughter should please him in a way where he would forgo his demand of taking control of the property in question.
