Reference for the du’a ‘O Allah there is nothing made easy except what you make easy’

Is the following a Masnun du’a?

اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ سَهْلًا إِذَا شِئْتَ

Answer

This is indeed a Masnun du’a. Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

‘Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja ‘altahu sahla, wa anta taj ‘alul hazna sahlan idha shi’ ta’

(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 974. Also see Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 176)

Translation

O Allah, there is nothing made easy except what you make easy, and You make difficulty easy, if You wish

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
