Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) attending to the need of a bedouin

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Who the Sahabi mentioned in following Hadith?

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 27)

Mufti Taqi Uthmani (may Allah protect him) states that ‘Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rahimahullah) had found the name of this Sahabi in Al-Adabul Mufrad. (In’aam ul Bari , Vol.3 , pg.436)

Please provide name of this Sahabi and the Hadith of Al-Adabul Mufrad in which he is mentioned.

Answer

The narration in question is probably the following:

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) was very compassionate. He would promise to fulfil the need of anyone who came to him, and would indeed fulfil his promise if he could afford to. One day, a Bedouin arrived after the iqamah was called and took hold of the clothes of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) saying: I have a small request which I fear forgetting [if delayed after the salah]. Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) remained standing with him until he completed his request. Thereafter Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) commenced the salah.

(Al-Adabul Mufrad, Hadith: 278 -Dar ibn Kathir edition)

Although the name of the Sahabi (radiyallahu’anhu) is not mentioned, this does seem to be the narration ‘Allamah Kashmiri (rahimahullah) was referring to, since he too didn’t mention the name in Faydul Bari. (vol.2 pg.189)

The annotator of the above edition; Shaykh Ilyas Barahbankawi (may Allah protect him) comments that If ‘Allamah Kashmiri did see a name he would have cited it in his lesson. It is highly possible that the compiler of Faydul Bari had mis-worded himself.
