If One Prayed Isha and Planned on Praying Witr Later On in the Night but the Period Started

Question:

If I prayed Isha and planned on praying witr later on in the night but my period came in between and now I can’t pray witr- what should I do? Do I have to make it up after my period is over or will that not be necessary? Is it a sin?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If you become Haaidh during a Salah time, the obligation of that Salah would be waived, regardless of whether you could have completed praying the Salah earlier when you were not Haaidh (Fatwa Tatarkhania, Vol 1, Pg 483).

Therefore, you will not need to make up for Witr, and Inshaa’Allah, you will not be sinful for delaying it and not praying it as a result of becoming Haaidh.

Only Allah knows best.
