Tulips And Roses In Islaam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta Azaadville

Question:

Do they really have significance in Islamic art and are those theories about it be symbolic to the word Allah correct?

Answer:

Roses and tulips are flowers like all others and have no special significance in terms of Islamic beliefs.

However, in Islamic art, artist have depicted the tulips to resemble the word Allah (الله) in the Arabic form, but this is a personal preference of some artists in the field of art and it does not have any basis in Islamic beliefs, nor is it encouraged to depict the Blessed Name in this form.

Regarding the rose, many Muslims have used its water (rose water) for different reasons such as fragrance, cooking ingredients and treating sicknesses such as mild acne, dry flaking skin and eczema. These are just some uses. Nevertheless, in Islamic belief is has no significance and no basis.
