Using Utensils of Non Muslims

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: I know its a general rule that Muslims do not eat from the pots of non-Muslims, but still use there plates, forks etc. Is this acceptable or is the use of any utensils of non-Muslims haraam/makrooh?

A: The actual ruling is that all utensils AND cutlery used by non-Muslims must be washed at least three times and then used. However, if the fattiness or greasiness on the utensils or cutlery cannot be removed, then it will not be permissible to use these items.

Otherwise, after three washes it will be permissible to use the utensils, etc.

And Allah knows best
