The Janāzah salāh is itself a du῾ā for the deceased. If a person does not recite any du῾ā and he merely makes the Takbīr’s only, even in such a situation Janāzah salāh will be complete and this will be considered a du῾ā for the deceased. The method of Janāzah salāh is as follows: After the first Takbīr, Thanā is recited. The following is the Thanā which is read in Janāzah salāh:-

After the second Takbīr, Durūd is recited (which is generally read in salāt), and then after the third Takbīr, a du῾ā is recited for the forgiveness of all the deceased.

The following du῾ā is narrated from Nabī (Sallallāhu ῾alaihi Wasallam), which is read after the third Takbīr:-

The following du῾ā could also be read:-

A person could also read those du῾ā’s which are read in salāt such as:-

{ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ }

{ رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ }

(Badā’iu Al Sanā’i V-2, P-44-45 Darul Kitāb)

(Fatāwa Mahmūdiyah V-8,P-544-560 Farūqiyah)

(Fatāwa Rahīmiyyah V-3, P-21 Darul Isha’at)

And Allah knows best
