Drying after Wudu

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Hamza Karamali, SunniPath Academy Teacher

If a person gets dry skin, and their hands start to hurt because they don’t dry themselves after wudu, can they dry themselves in the area that has pain?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Asalaamu Alaykum

The position of the school is that it is makruh to dry oneself after making wudu. However, if not drying oneself would somehow harm you, or increase ones sickness it is recommended to dry oneself after wudu.

Note: Disliked here means that which is better not to do, thought there is no sin in doing it.

And Allah knows best
