In Q. 5230, it is mentioned that 3 times are forbidden (Haram) for prayers Sunrise, Sunset, Zawaal. I need some clarifications. 1. What is the definition of Sunset, Sunrise, and Zawal? 2. In Q. 4833 it is mentioned that 10- 15 mins time before Sunset is Makrooh, but in Q. 5230 it is written that Makrooh time is after Asr Salaah even if it is more than 10 – 15 mins before Sunset. 3. Is the following definition for Sunset right? Sunset: The Sunset time starts from the time when sun becomes reddish and one can look into it to the time when it is completely set (disappeared). This time period is of about 15 to 20 mins and is forbidden(Haram) time for prayers However if one has not offered today’s ASR prayer for some reason, he/she can perform it b/w this time.As for Asr prayer this time will be considered Makrooh but for any other Prayer it will be considered (forbidden–Haram) Wassalaam U Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
1. Sunrise is when the first portion of the sun can be seen on the eastern horizon. It ends when the entire ball of the sun has become visible. Sunset is when the ball just touches the western horizon, and ends when the entire ball has disappeared. Zawaal is when the sun is at its highest point, i.e. when the shadow of an object reaches its shortest length.
2. It is Makrooh to perform Nafl Salaat from after Asr Salaat. However, one may perform other Waajib Salaats or Qadhaa Salaats. From about 15 or 20 minutes before sunset, all Salaats including Qadhaa and Waajib become Makrooh. If one has not performed the Asr of that day, then one may do so.
3. The definition is technically incorrect. Although the rule mentioned is correct that when the sun becomes reddish, i.e. 15 to 20 minutes before sunset, one may not perform Salaat. However, this period of 15 to 20 minutes is technically not part of sunset. Where did you get this definition from?
