Aversion to marriage is a Cause for Vices

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
What is the ruling of Sharia on young people's aversion to marriage?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Aversion to marriage with having the desire and the ability to get married is forbidden, causes corruption, and spreads evils in society. The devil makes aversion to marriage beautiful in the eyes of the young people through false excuses, such as lack of income, pursuing education, difficulty to be responsible for a family, and the like. Allah the Almighty says {What means}: "The Evil one threatens you with poverty and bids you to conduct unseemly. God promiseth you His forgiveness and bounties. And God careth for all and He knoweth all things." {Al-Baqarah, 268}.

Whoever fears poverty and doesn`t have enough income to provide for his family should be contented with whatever he has and put his trust in Allah. He the Almighty says {what means}: "Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or female: if they are in poverty, God will give them means out of His grace: for God encompasseth all, and he knoweth all things." {An-Nur, 32}. Through Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him), Allah has promised to help the one who wants to preserve his chastity by means of lawful marriage. Narrated Abu Hurairah: It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "There are three who are promised the help of Allah: The Mukatab* who wants to buy his freedom, the one who gets married seeking to keep himself chaste, and the Mujahid who fights in the cause of Allah." {Related by Tirmithi}.

It suffices that marriage preserves one`s religion and helps society advance. It was narrated from Anas Bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever Allah blesses with a righteous wife has fulfilled on half of his religion, so he must fear Allah in the second half." {Related by Al-Hakim in his Mustadrak, V.2:175}. And Allah the Almighty knows best.

*Mukatab: the slave who has made a contract of manumission.
