Is It Permissible To Get Fillers for My Hip Dips?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: I recently gained a lot of weight, and as a result, I have developed severely protruding hip dips, which are very unattractive. Is it permissible to have fillers in that area to fill them in and make them less noticeable?

Answer:

Assalamu alaykum,

Thank you for your question. Hip dips are a natural phenomenon, and they appear due to your particular skeletal structure. See the details here:

Fillers

It can be permissible to use fillers according to the rulings here:

Take your life back

However, I encourage you to take superior measures, such as weight loss, taking care of your health, and not comparing yourself to air-brushed girls you see in the media who are dolled up on the outside and empty on the inside. It would help if you met with your doctor to discuss diet options and ways of dealing with stress. Keto, paleo, low-carb diets are just a few that come to mind. Here are some exercises that focus on reducing hip dips:

Seek strength

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive for that which will benefit you, seek the help of Allah, and do not feel helpless. If anything befalls you, do not say, “if only I had done such and such” rather say ‘Qaddara Allahu wa ma sha’a fa’ala (Allah has decreed and whatever he wills, He does).‘ For (saying) ‘If I had…‘ opens (the door) to the deeds of Satan.‘“ [Ibn Majah]

Take your next steps for the sake of Allah, ask Him to help you in your worldly and other-worldly affairs, and treat every day as it could be your last. May Allah give you the best of this world and the next.
