A unique tree in Jannah in exchange for dhikr

Question

Is this narration reliable?

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Salman (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 6176)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) states: “There is a narrator [whose credibility/lack thereof] I am unaware of, as well as a host of other weak narrators who have been declared credible [by some].” (فيه محمد بن عدي، عن سلمان ولم أعرفه، وجماعة ضعفاء وثقوا)

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 90)

Translation

Sayyiduna Salman (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says, “I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say: ‘Whomsoever glorifies Allah [says Subhanallah] once, or praises him once [says Alhamdulillah], or makes tahlil [says La ilaha illallah] once, or says takbir [Allahu Akbar] once , Allah will plant a tree in Jannah, the roots will be of rubies, crowned with pearls. The inflorescence [flower head] will be like the bosoms of virgins, sweeter than honey and softer than butter.’”

The Hadith is therefore weak.
However the reward for these recitals being trees in Jannah is authentically recorded in other sources, as is detailed in the link cited above.
