The reward for loving, spending and meeting for the sake of Allah Ta’ala

Question

Is the following narration authentic?

Answer

Imam Bazzar (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musnad Bazzar; Al Bahruz Zakkhar, Hadith: 8776. Also see: Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 8589)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared a narrator weak. Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has also declared the Hadith weak.

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 278, Al Matalibul ‘Aliyah, Hadith: 4613 and 2759. Also see: Targhib, vol. 4 pg. 22)

The Hadith is suitable to quote to encourage carrying out the deeds mentioned therein, as is the rule with Hadiths of this nature.

Translation

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There are pillars of sapphire in Jannah. Rooms of chrysolite will be [built] upon it and they will have open doors which will illuminate like the brilliance of a star. The [Sahabah] said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Who will occupy them?’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘[For] those who love for the sake of Allah, spend for the sake of Allah and meet for the sake of Allah.’”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
