Salaam! I wanted to ask when doing Dhikr how to recite Allah names? Should it be “Al-Qahharu” or “Ya Qahharu” or “Ya Al-Qahharu”? Because “Al” emphasizes the importance of Name and Allah’s traits if not used will it be an issue because without “Al” doesnt it become a regular name? And why most people name their children based on Allah’s names? JzakaAllah Khair

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
1.In the Arabic language “Al” has multiple meanings. [1]
Linguistically it is correct to say “Ya Qahharu” or “Al-Qahharu”. It is incorrect to say “Ya Al-Qahharu.’
2.Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam has mentioned in a hadith narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar Radhiyallahu Anhuma:
أَحَبُّ الأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ
“The most beloved of names to Allah is Abdullah and Abdur Rahman.” [2]
People name their children with the attributes of Allah due to love and respect for Allah. These particular names are beloved to Allah because they denote servitude to Allah. For this reason, Muslim’s name their children with the attributes of Allah.
If an attribute is a sole quality of Allah, then it must have a prefix of Abd, for example Abdullah and Abdur Rahman etc.
