Assalaamu Alaikum
I know that there is a hadith such as
كما فيالترمذي عن زيد بن ثابت قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: نضر الله امرأً سمع منا حديثا فحفظه حتى يبلغه غيره
I want to ask, is there any hadith also with the opposite meaning that is:”May Allah darken (bay-noor) his face who hears my hadith and does not conveys it to others.”
I received a text message mentioning a hadith and at the end of the message, the above mentioned words were quoted as a hadith.
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
Brother in Islaam,
There is no Hadith with reference to a person’s face being darkened for not narrating a Ahaadith. There were many Sahaabah (Radhiyallaahu ‘anhum) who exercised precaution in narrating Ahaadith.
Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said,
من كذب علي متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار[1]
Translation: “Whoever deliberately ascribes something to me falsely, then let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.” (Muslim 3)
And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
