Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) describes Allah Ta’ala, the Being who he supplicates to

Could you confirm the source of this Hadith?

Answer

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) has recorded this as part of a longer Hadith.

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 64)

Translation

A Sahabi (Sayyiduna Jabir ibn Sulaym radiyallahu ‘anhu) once asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), “What/who do you call unto?’ Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, ‘I call unto Allah alone, the One whom when calamity afflicts you and you supplicate to Him, He removes the calamity and the One who brings you back when you call unto Him after being lost in a barren land and the Being who allows [crops] to grow for you when drought affects you and you supplicate to Him.’”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
