What is the level of authenticity of this Hadith?
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said “Whoever protects his tongue Allah will conceal his sins”
Answer:
Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a weak chain.
(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 1342. Refer: Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 3108 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 68)
This narration is recorded as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) -marfu’an- and as the statement of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) -mawqufan-. ‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) seems to prefer the mawquf version [i.e. as the statement of Sayyiduna Anas] as being the correct version.
