How can sisters connect with Allah and His Beloved through the company of a wali ullah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
The love of Allah SWT and His Beloved Rasool SAW is not instilled in the heart except by recognising them and knowing about them. this special love and connection is derived from the pious company of the wali ullah. brothers can do this by sitting in their company, but how can sisters gain this suhbah?

Respected Sister,

Alhamdulillah for your zeal in attaining the love of Allah and Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). May Allah reward you immensely and make you the means of other people having the desire to gain the love of Allah and His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

We should bear in mind that this Deen of Allah is not only meant for the human beings but for the jinns as well. This means that this Deen is for everyone – man, woman and jinn. Thus, whatever benefits the men are able to reap, the women will also be able to attain insha Allah.

Nowadays, there are many ways we as women are able to benefit from the pious personalities. We may not be as fortunate as men who are able to see, meet and sit in their gatherings but we should not feel worried as the saying goes ‘When there’s a will there’s always a way.’

One of the ways we can be ‘included’ in these gatherings is to ask our menfolk to record the bayaan of the personality. Alhamdulillah, with the technology available, this task is very simple to do. Thereafter, we can listen to the bayaan not only once, but as much as we want and at our own leisure (ie. at home, whenever we feel like).

Another method is to increase in the reading of the correct and authentic Islamic literature. Many books by famous and reputable Muslim authors (eg. Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Sheikh Zulfiqar, Sheikh ‘Ashiq Ilahi etc.- may Allah shower His blessings upon them) have been published with regards to attaining and increasing the love of Allah and Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Instead of engrossing ourselves with useless novels, magazines, newspapers etc. which circulate propaganda and gossip, it would be much more preferred and rewarding to read Islamic literature since they serve as food for our souls and thoughts. Apart from gaining knowledge, the closeness of Allah and Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) will be gained insha Allah. On top of that, we will be assisting our Muslim brothers and sisters when purchasing the books.

If you are amongst those people who are skillful with the computer and internet, then another alternative would be to go to authentic Islamic websites to listen to the bayaan of the prominent scholar. Sometimes, the bayaan can even be heard live from the internet website. Certainly, this is a real advantage to those at home with internet access since we do not have to leave our homes to listen to the bayaan given. We can also earn more reward if we record the bayaan and then distribute it to other members of our family (of course ensuring that we are observing the Copyright terms).

Attending weekly ta’lim conducted by sisters in the neighborhood is also another means of attaining the love and proximity of Allah and Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). All that is required is only an hour of our week to attend the weekly ta’lim. It is not compulsory to attend but its effects are tremendous and enlightening. People get affected by listening to just one word or sentence from this gathering. It is not a wonder since this gathering is also participated by the angels and it is the words of Allah, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and the Sahabah Kiraam (radhiallahu ‘anhum ajma’een) that are being uttered.

The other method that comes to mind is for the womenfolk to be active in masturat jamaat. Men get to benefit spiritually also because of going out in jamaat. This is due to the fact that a person who goes out in jamaat, will be putting the worldly matters behind and only concentrate and think about Allah. During this period, one is constantly reminded about the greatness of Allah and His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). When something is repeated over and over, it will most definitely settle in the heart as how when water is being poured onto metal, sooner or later rust will be formed.

These are only some methods that can be used to gain the love of Allah and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and I am quite sure there are plenty more. May Allah accept our efforts and reward us all.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam.
