Adhan and Iqamah by a non-baaligh

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Assalamu Alaykum,

What is the ruling for a non-baaligh child to give adhan or iqamah in the presence of baaligh persons who are very knowledgeable, learned, and huffaaz and a’immah.

الجواب وبالله التوفيق

If a pubescent child is sensible then it is permissible for him to call azan, even in the presence of adults. However it is Afzal(preferable) for an adult to call azan.

It is impermissible for a non-pubescent child to call azan, it will be considered incorrect and repeating it will be considered wajib.
