Evidence for 10 rakat worth of Friday prayers

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The sunna prayers associated with Friday prayer are 4 rakats before and 4 after, with 2 extra rakats after that being either recommended or sunna. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

It has been reported been reported by Ibn Abbas Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) use to perform four rak’ats before and after Jumu’a without separating them with salam.

Ibn Maja has narrated it with just mentioning the ‘four after Jumu’a.’ Also, Tabrani in his ‘Kabir’ has narrated it.

It has reported by Ata ibn Sa’ib from Abu Abdur Rahman al-Sulami, he says that ‘Abdullah use to order us to perform four rak’ats before and after Jumu’a.’

It has been narrated by Abdur Razzaq in his Musannaf and mentioned in Nasbu al-Ra’ya (318-1 )and Al-Diraya ‘All the narrators are trustworthy’ (pg 133)

Abu Abdur Rahman al-Sulami, he says that Abdullah ibn Masud use to teach us to perform four rak’ats after Jumu’a until we heard the saying of Ali Allah be pleased with him) of ‘perform six rak’ats.’

Abu Abdur Rahman says, we we now perform four rak’ats.

Ata says that Abu Abdur Rahman use to perform two rak’ats (first) then four rak’ats.

It has been reported in Tabrani in his ‘Kabir.’

It has been reported by Abu Abdur Rahman from Ali (Allah be pleased with him) who said, whoever is going to perform salat after Jumu’a, let him perform six rak’ats.

Tahawi has recorded this narration. It has been mentioned in Aa’thar al-Sunan that its chain of narrators is authentic.
