Reading prayer aloud to teach children

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is it permissible to recite all parts of the prayer aloud so that our children may hear it and hopefully absorb some of to memory. Recently my 5 year old has asked her father to recite every part of the prayer aloud but he is reluctant to do so for a fard prayer made in jamah.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.

It is best when praying alone to recite out loud in the loud prayers–and actually necessary to do so in congregational prayer for the imam.

In the quiet prayers, one can recite in an audible loud whisper, and this will not be wrong.

(Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah)

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
