RE: reading aloud in quiet prayer to be able to maintain concentration

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

If I’m praying and a jamaat is going on where the imam is reading aloud, or even if I joined a prayer late and while I finish off my missed rakats the imam is performing dua aloud – in such cases, I find it difficult to be sure that I am reading my prayer correctly. So can I read the prayer a bit loudly to hear myself through the noise (coming from the imam)?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Doing so slightly is fine. [Tahtawi quoting Quhustani]
