Are we meant to touch feet to feet in congregation prayers?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. No, according to the Hanafi school there should be a comfortable space between the two feet of a person during salah.

2. The Fuqaha say that this distance is about 4 fingers span.

3. This applies whilst offering salah in congregation as well. However, one should ensure that the saff (row) is straight by ensuring that the heels of one’s feet is in line with the person on the right and left. This is what the fuqaha, across the madhhabs, have generally interpreted the oft-misinterpreted hadiths regarding this to mean.
